ITTF Standard dimension- As per the ITTF rules, a standard Ping Pong Table is about 2.74 m long and 1.525 m wide. This dimension makes 9 by 5 in terms of feet.
It should be 76 cm at a height from the ground floor and also be on a level along the surface below. One of the important qualities which are checked on a Ping Pong table is the Bounce level.
If you drop a ball at the height of 30 cm directly on the table, then it should bounce by at least 23 cm from the table’s surface.
What about the Table surface?
A standard size ping pong table usually comes in a dark shade, and the dark blue is the most preferred among all. Well, there are tables which arrive with a black top. There are white markings done, of 2cm thickness for a better understanding of the game. Here the net divides the width by an exact half, separating the table into two equal halves each of 1.37 cm. The net is 1.83 m long, and it is 6 inches high.
If it is double’s game, then you will find an additional line of 3mm which is made perpendicular to the net line. Thus it creates two equal half courts, each of 0.76 m width.
Are the Recreational Tables good for Tournament practice?
You will come across many recreational tables that have a similar dimension and measurements that of an regulation size. If a recreational table has a dimension of 9 by 5 feet, then we can definitely call it a tournament size table. But the quality will differ a lot from the tournament tables, even though the dimensions match.
Otherwise, you can go with a recreational for all the casual matches. Opting for a regulation size table will be an add-on benefit. There are some recreational tables which are of 84 inches by 42 inches or may be smaller than this. These tables can be termed as the midsize or the mini tables.
